Odoo's promise is one connected system for sales, inventory, finance, manufacturing, HR, and more, replacing a drawer full of disconnected tools. That promise is real, but it is also a trap. Teams switch on dozens of apps at once, recreate their old, siloed processes inside a system designed to remove silos, and end up with an ERP that is somehow both sprawling and underused. On top of that are choices that are genuinely hard to reverse later: Community or Enterprise, Odoo Online or Odoo.sh or on-premise, and which apps to adopt now and which to defer. Strategy is where those decisions get made deliberately, against how your business runs, rather than by default in the middle of an implementation.
